The Hyundai Eon, or Hyundai Atos Eon, is a city car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai. It was launched on 13 October 2011 in India, March 2012 in the Philippines, June 2012 in Vietnam, and June 2014 in Sri Lanka. It is also sold in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Chile, Panama, and Colombia. The Hyundai Eon was not launched in South Korea.
The Eon is produced in India at Hyundai's Chennai plant for the domestic and export markets as the company's entry level city car (positioned below the Hyundai i10 and Santro Xing).

Design
The Eon was designed jointly between the Hyundai R&D centers in Namyang, South Korea, and Hyderabad, India. It is offered with an 814 cc three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 55 bhp (56 PS) and 75 N?m (7.6 kg?m) torque. According to Hyundai's Philippine distributor, the Eon has a fuel economy rating of 26.3 km/L (62 mpg-US). The car is equipped with 13-inch wheels fitted with 155/70R13 tyres.
In January 2012, Hyundai India announced LPG models of Eon as well. These models have a 34L toroidal tank with an additional cost of approximately INR 27000 to the available models.
In May 2014, Hyundai released a variant of the Eon with the 1.0L Kappa II three-cylinder engine also found in the European Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto. The motor generates power of 68 bhp (69 PS) at 6,200 rpm and peak torque at 94 N?m (9.6 kg?m) at 3500 rpm.

Variants
As of November 2017, there are thirteen variants for the Indian market:
- D Lite - Heater and four blowers, child lock, chrome radiator grille, engine immobilizer, rear seat belts, cup holder, remote tail gate release, low fuel indicator and two-tone beige and brown interiors.
- D Lite+ - This has the same features as D-Lite but has an air conditioner, power steering and hubcaps.
- D Lite+ Airbag - All the features from the D Lite+ model plus addition of a Driver side airbag as a safety feature.
- Era+ (0.8L) - Tinted glass, body colored bumpers, metallic finish centre console, front power windows, electric power steering and optional driver airbag.
- Era+ (0.8L) Airbag - All the features from the Era+ (0.8L) model plus addition of a Driver side airbag as a safety feature.
- Era+ (0.8L) SE - This is the standard Era+ (0.8L) model with some exterior additions like, Roof Rails, Body Kit and in-car entertainment feature added, Integrated (in-dash) Music System (2-DIN stereo with touch screen display and 2 speakers).
- Era+ (1.0L) - Same as the 0.8L variant, Body colored outside mirror and door handles, front fog lamps, Driver side Airbag, keyless Entry.
- Magna+ (0.8L) - Front and rear speaker grille, utility options like rear parcel tray, driver side central locking, 2 DIN Radio/CD/MP3 Audio with two speakers in front, USB port, auxiliary-in port and a digital clock and optional driver airbag.
- Magna+ (0.8L) Airbag - This is the standard Magna+ (0.8L) with driver airbag.
- Magna+ (0.8L) SE - This is the standard Magna+ (0.8L) model with some exterior additions like, Roof Rails, Body Kit and in-car entertainment feature added, a touch screen display.
- Magna+ (1.0L) - Same as the 0.8L variant, Body colored outside mirror and door handles, front fog lamps, Driver side Airbag, keyless Entry.
- Magna (O) (1.0L) - Same as Magna+ (1.0L) but the engine is now 4 cylinder DOHC rather than 3 cylinder SOHC unit.
- Sportz - Keyless entry, front fog lamps, driver side airbag, body color outside mirror and door handles, metallic finish three-spoke steering wheel unlike other variants which have a two-spoke version.
The Philippine market version is offered in three variants:
- GL - similar to the D Lite+, but with front power windows included. Discontinued in 2016.
- GLX - same as Era+, but with body-colored side mirrors. Becoming the sole variant in 2016, the GLX was upgraded with body-colored bumpers.
- GLS - equivalent to the Sportz, but with 7" LCD touchscreen, reverse-sensor, adjustable headrests and side-mirror turn signal indicators. Discontinued in 2016.
Engine options
Safety
Models sold in the Philippines are sold without airbags. However in the Indian market, drivers side airbag is standard on Sportz and Magna+ (1.0L) variants, and optional on Era+ and Magna+ (0.8L) models. In 2016, tests conducted by British agency Global NCAP awarded the Eon (without airbag) with a 0-star rating. Many entry-level competitors sold in the Indian market also achieved this rating. Driver protection was rated as poor and front passenger protection was rated marginal (albeit with possible danger of knee impact).
Marketing and positioning
The Eon is positioned to compete with the Maruti Alto in India and the Suzuki Celerio in Southeast Asian markets.
Future
As Eon monthly sales have reached 10,000 units (half of the Maruti Alto 800 and Alto K10's sales) in India, Hyundai had given the car a facelift for the 2014 model year.
2017 marked the introduction of the Eon 'Sports Edition'. Priced from INR 3.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the 0.8L limited edition model added more equipment and styling enhancements over the Era+ and Magna+ variants that it is based on. Sold only in Polar White, exterior enhancements include side body mouldings and roof rails, while the interior gains a 6.2" touchscreen infotainment system with Phone-Link.
